Thigh Lift Basics

A thigh lift, also known as medial thigh lift, is a procedure that tightens the skin and reduces the sagging of the inner thigh. This procedure is for both men and women with loose skin and excess fat deposits due to significant weight loss or aging. During this procedure, the excess skin and fat tissue will be removed and tightened to give a smoother, youthful shape to your legs.

Thigh Lift Benefits

Is a Thigh Lift Right for Me?

If you have an excess amount of loose skin and fat tissue on the inner thighs that has been diet- and exercise-resistant, then a medial thigh lift may be the right choice for you. The sagging skin and localized fat deposits can occur for many reasons such as significant weight loss and aging. Exercise can improve the underlying muscle tone but it cannot improve the loss of elasticity in the skin, making it difficult for the thighs to become a more youthful shape and tone. Removing excess skin tissue and fat, can not only help to achieve a more slender look to the thighs but also make every day activities easier. During your consultation, Dr. Stiller will go over your goals and help you achieve the look you are striving for.

Thigh Lift Procedure

The thigh lift begins by Dr. Stiller performing liposuction to help contour and remove fat tissue. This is done by inserting a small tube called a cannula, which is attached to a suction device. A vertical incision is then made from the groin down to the knee along the inseam of each thigh. The excess tissue is pulled tight, removed, and incisions are then closed.

For your Cosmetic Surgery, cash pay procedures, your surgery will be performed at our own on-site AAAASF accredited surgery center at our Stiller Aesthetics office. Our operating room is fully equipped with the latest state-of-the-art equipment.

Thigh Lift Recovery

A thigh lift is an outpatient procedure, so after a short period of recovery time, you will go home the same day. When you awake, you will be in a compression garment which we advise you to wear the first 2 weeks all the time, followed by 2 more weeks during times of activity. You can expect bruising, swelling, and tightness  for about 2-3 weeks. Patients most commonly take about 2 weeks off of work but this can depend on your activity level at work. At 4 weeks is when patients usually return to exercise, heavy lifting, and other physically demanding activities.

You will be provided with detailed post-operative instructions upon completion of your procedure. If at any time you should have any questions or concerns after surgery, please contact our practice immediately.

Thigh Lift Results

Results after a thigh lift can vary between patients so it is important to be patient. Many patients notice a significant difference after surgery; however, it can take time to see the more contoured and shape of the thighs. It is normal to experience swelling up to 3 months after surgery. At this point, you will begin to see the new shape of your thighs though you will continue to see improvements as the months go on. You will have a scar running down each thigh on the inner side, which may appear pink and raised 2-3 months after surgery. As time goes on, the color will begin to fade and the scar will flatten. To keep your results it is best to maintain a rich diet in whole foods and vitamins and exercise to maintain a healthy weight.
