Mommy Makeover Basics
A "mommy makeover" is a familiar term for a personalized combination of cosmetic procedures to restore and rejuvenate common effects of childbearing and aging on the face, breasts and body. Pregnancy, delivery and breastfeeding can all leave lasting- and often unwanted- effects on the body such as stretched abdominal muscles, sagging breasts and loose, excess skin. Through your consult with Dr. Stiller, you will be able to address unwanted changes of pregnancy and restore the appearance you desire by personalizing your experience.

- Correct sagging and restore volume to breasts
- Improve breast symmetry

- Repair stretched or separated abdominal muscles (diastasis recti)
- Reduce pockets of diet and exercise resistant fat
- Enhance self confidence
Is a Mommy Makeover Right for Me?
There is no exact procedure "formula" for a Mommy Makeover. During your consultation, Dr. Stiller will tailor the procedure to address each patients specific goals and needs. If you have excess belly fat and lax skin around the abdominal, hip or thigh area with loss of breast volume and shape, a Mommy Makeover may be right for you. To be a good candidate for any procedures, you must be fully recovered from child birth before undergoing surgery. If you are considering breast surgery, it is recommended to wait a few months until you are done to allow the breasts to return to a stable shape and size. Certain non-surgical treatments, such as injectables, may not be recommended if you are still breastfeeding.
Many patients wonder if having a "Mommy Makeover" stops you from having children in the future. Typically, it is best to wait for any surgical "lifting" procedures such as a tummy or breast lift until you are done having children. If body contouring is a part of your journey, it is best to be near the weight you are comfortable with. If you plan to lose more than 20 pounds, you should wait to have your tummy tuck, as the weight loss could cause additional lax skin. If you do become pregnant after your procedures, this is not a problem however, you may want additional procedures down the road. As a mom, we know you usually put your family before yourself, but you deserve to take care of yourself too.
Because pregnancy and childbirth have a significant impact on the breasts and body, mommy makeovers tend to include breast enhancement and body contouring surgery. Some of the most common procedures performed include some combination of liposuction, tummy tuck, breast augmentation, breast lift, breast reduction or labiaplasty. However, your own mommy makeover may include other procedures that will better suit your own goals. For some patients, non-surgical injectables for the face, like Botox and injectable fillers, can be performed as well to keep the face looking youthful along with the body.
Many mommy makeover procedures include multiple procedures depending on your own goals whether that is two, three or four. In most cases, multiple procedures can be performed in a single operation. This allows improvement in multiple areas and one recovery period. Below are some procedures you can combine to tailor the procedure to you.
Mommy Makeover Recovery
Since the mommy makeover procedure is specific to each patient, the recovery can vary. Dr. Stiller will provide a pain management regimen to help manage your discomfort and get you through recovery as easily as possible.
Dr. Stiller's cosmetic procedures are all outpatient, so after a short period of recovery time, you will go home the same day as your surgery. You will need to bring someone 18 years or older with you the day of surgery who can take you home after your procedure.
When you awake from your surgery, you will be in a compression garment, which we strongly advise you wear 24 hours a day for the first 2 weeks, followed by 2 more weeks of wearing the garment during times of activity.
Mommy Makeover Results
Mommy makeover results can vary, due to the personalization of surgery so it is important to be patient. Most patients notice a significant difference in the first 3 months, depending on the surgery combinations, as the swelling continues to improve. Any scars may appear pink and raised 2-3 months after surgery. As time goes on, the color will begin to fade and the scars will flatten. If you received a body lift or tummy tuck, you will lose inches and have a slimmer waist but a body lift is not a substitute for weight loss. Maintaining a steady weight can help you keep your results. After liposuction, swelling can last from 1-3 months, depending on the areas you had treated. As the swelling improves, you’ll be able to fully see your more defined shape. Results will continue to improve as your skin tightens down to its new contour. For breast procedures, you will notice an instant difference and continued improvement as swelling improves.
