Stubborn body fat is a frustrating problem that affects millions of adults of all ages. If you’ve lost weight and have been left with a few extra pounds that just won’t go away as well as loose skin, you may feel as though your frustrations are getting worse instead of better. While plastic surgery used to be the primary solution for loose skin and excess fat, we now have a plethora of technologies to help us manage these concerns. BodyTite is one that we regularly turn to when patients visit our Spokane office for nonsurgical body contouring. Here, we discuss what BodyTite does and why some patients include compression after their treatment to get the best results.
What is BodyTite?
BodyTite is a minimally-invasive procedure that sculpts areas of the body using radiofrequency-assisted liposuction, RFAL. The procedure is conducted through a very small incision in the treatment area. The doctor inserts the small BodyTite applicator beneath the skin, where subcutaneous fat lives. The applicator liquefies and loosens the fat while simultaneously emitting heat that causes collagen fibers to contract. BodyTite works efficiently and safely thanks to internal and external temperature monitors, and can be an excellent alternative to liposuction for many people. Because excess fat is removed from the treatment area, results can be very long lasting.

Maximizing BodyTite with Compression
One of the advantages of BodyTite treatment is that it takes less than an hour in most cases. Recovery after treatment is generally mild, though patients may take 5 to 10 days off to focus on physical healing. To help the body regenerate healthy new collagen and optimal slimming effects, many patients wear a compression garment for a week or two after their procedure. Swelling and soreness are two of the most common side effects of treatment. The gentle pressure of a compression garment can help ease each of them. Additionally, the garment can help promote the ideal shape in the treatment area.
